Welcome to Calm Within, a safe and supportive space for adults experiencing stress, overwhelm, anxiety, trauma, or emotional difficulties.
We offer practical, trauma-informed approaches that help people feel calmer, more resilient, and better able to cope with everyday life. Our work is designed to support lasting emotional change that can positively ripple through families, relationships, and communities.

Building emotional resilience means developing the inner strength and flexibility to cope with life’s challenges without feeling completely overwhelmed. It’s not about ignoring pain or being tough all the time — it’s about learning how to bend without breaking, recover after setbacks, and keep moving forward, even when things are hard.
Resilience helps us stay grounded during stress, make clearer decisions, and care for ourselves and the people around us with more ease. By strengthening this foundation, we can face life’s challenges with greater calm, confidence, and hope.
What is Emotional Resilience?
Who we support

At Calm Within CIC, we support adults who are navigating emotional difficulties or the lasting effects of past trauma. Whether they’re parents, carers, or individuals seeking personal peace, we offer a safe, supportive space to build emotional resilience and rediscover inner calm.
While our current focus is on adults, our work is designed to ripple outward. By equipping people with simple, effective tools like Havening®, we empower them to share these techniques with the young people in their lives — helping to create calmer homes, stronger relationships, and emotionally healthier communities.

Welcome to Calm Within
What is Havening
Havening® is a gentle, touch-based approach designed to help calm the nervous system and reduce emotional distress.
It uses soothing self-touch, combined with simple attention and distraction techniques, to support feelings of safety and ease in the body.
Havening is often used to support people experiencing stress, anxiety, or the emotional impact of difficult life experiences. It is considered a complementary approach, with research still emerging, and is always offered gently and at each person’s pace.
Tools like Havening® can help make emotional resilience feel more practical, accessible, and achievable for both adults and children.
A gentle Practical Approach
At Calm Within CIC, we believe emotional wellbeing should feel accessible, supportive, and free from judgment. Our work combines practical tools, emotional education, and trauma-informed support to help people better understand themselves, manage stress, and build healthier emotional patterns at their own pace.
Whether through talks, workshops, group programmes, or one-to-one support, we aim to create spaces where people feel safe, heard, and empowered to move forward with greater confidence and self-understanding.
Client Feedback
What our clients are saying.
"Great talk, good information on trauma and why we react the way we do. I have a better understanding of my foster children and I want to learn more."
Sarah - County Durham
"I attended the group talk. Havening is such a gentle tool that I use to calm myself when I'm feeling frustrated. I have taught my children Havening and one of my sons says it's helping with his anxiety."
